The trip
Discover the Tunisian Sahara during a three-day, two-night stay starting at Dunes Insolites Camp in Sabria, near Douz. This experience combines the camp’s hospitality, a quad-bike excursion and an immersive desert journey with a nomadic team. Make your own way to the camp: it is accessible by standard car; a 4×4 is not required. Day 1 — Welcome to Dunes Insolites and a Desert Evening Upon arrival, the team will welcome you with traditional tea. Settle into your tent and take some time to relax in the peaceful surroundings. In the afternoon, explore the dunes at your own pace, enjoy the included sandboarding, and find a spot to watch the sunset. Take photos or simply appreciate the changing colours of the desert as evening approaches. Enjoy folk entertainment and a demonstration of traditional bread baked in the sand, followed by dinner at the camp. After your meal, spend more time round the campfire and use the telescope to observe the night sky, weather permitting. You can also return to your tent to rest. Day 2 — Quad Biking in the Dunes and Journey to the Bivouac After breakfast, set off on a quad biking excursion through the dunes. Enjoy a morning of adventure before returning to the camp by midday. Savour lunch, then take some time to rest in your tent before setting off for the bivouac. Leave your large luggage in a secure storage area at the camp and bring only the essentials for your overnight stay in the desert. Meet the nomadic guides waiting with the camels. Set off with the caravan through the dunes to reach the bivouac and discover the Sahara at the team’s leisurely pace. Upon arrival, settle in and enjoy the tranquillity of the desert. Take a walk near the bivouac, admire the sunset, and discover aspects of nomadic life as the team prepares for the evening. Enjoy a traditional dinner amongst the dunes. Afterwards, gather round the fire to chat with your hosts and admire the starry sky. Leave everyday distractions behind and sleep in a nomadic tent or beneath the stars, depending on your preference and the weather conditions. Day 3 — Nomadic Breakfast and Return to the Camp Wake up to the peaceful surroundings of the Sahara and enjoy a traditional breakfast at the bivouac. Return to the camp with the nomadic team. Back at Dunes Insolites, enjoy a hot shower, collect your luggage, and freshen up before setting off in your own vehicle.

2-Day Sahara Tour
Hallo zusammen, ich möchte mich zunächst bedanken für diese wundervollen zwei Tage. Wir wurden ganz typisch nach tunesischer Art fast pünktlich abgeholt und wurden ganz herzlich empfangen, bevor es losging. Auf dem Weg wurden wir mit ausreichend Pausen an Sehenswürdigkeiten vorbeigefahren und haben durch den Guide viel über Tunesien im ganzen erfahren. Beim Highlight, der Sahara hatten wir wirklich luxuriöse Zelte mit Klimaanlage und Bad, wobei da nur kaltes Wasser verfügbar war. AdOns wie die Quadtour und das Kamelreiten waren super, das Snowboardfahren war recht amüsant. Vor Ort gab es dann ein großes Dinner mit verschiedenen Shows. Nach dem Sonnenaufgang am nächsten Tag ging es dann weiter über die Salzseen, die große Moschee und auch hier gab es wieder ein Lunch(was leider etwas billig war und nicht dem Standart der restlichen Reise entsprach) bis wir dann abends wieder nach Hause gebracht wurden. Vielen Dank für die zwei Tage, würden wir im Nachhinein wieder so buchen. Daaaanke!

L'endroit est en plein désert ; il suffit de sortir de la tente pour se retrouver au milieu des dunes du Sahara. Nous sommes arrivés sans problème avec notre voiture de location, une petite voiture. Le personnel est très attentionné et serviable. Le prix comprend non seulement les repas et l'hébergement, mais aussi de petites expériences comme un spectacle musical avec de la musique en direct autour du feu, un thé sur les dunes pour admirer le coucher du soleil et une démonstration de préparation de pain berbère traditionnel. Il est également possible de réserver, moyennant un supplément, d'autres activités, comme des promenades en quad ou à dos de dromadaire dans le désert.

Magnifique séjour au milieu du désert. Le logement était magnifique, propre avec les essentiels. L’équipe est très proactive et fait preuve d’une grande gentillesse. La nourriture est excellente, et les animations proposées permettent une découverte des traditions (musique, spectacle et nourriture). Je recommande sans hésitation.
