Practical guide
The real list, not a generic travel-blog one — what our guides actually recommend, and what we already provide on-site.
Light, loose clothing, long sleeves and trousers rather than shorts — desert sun burns faster than it looks, even under cloud. Closed shoes are a must for walking on hot sand and for the quad.
Sunglasses and high-factor sunscreen. We hand out a traditional chèche at the gate to protect your head, face and neck from dust and sun.
A warm layer is essential — at minimum a sweater or light jacket. The day-to-night temperature swing in the desert is real, even at the height of the season: a hot afternoon turns into a cool evening the moment the sun goes down.
Tents, bedding, and the desert chèche are provided at both the camp and on a bivouac — no need to bring your own sleeping or camping gear.
If you're on a medical treatment or have a dietary need, tell us when you book — we offer vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options, and our guides are briefed in advance on anything you tell us.
